Join the Grid Analytics Community on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 1:00 PM CT for a presentation with Q&A and open discussion on, "Storm Characterization and Outage Prediction Model" led by Tisha Johnson, Emergency Response Manager and Arelis Silva-Trujillo, Data Engineer Operations Analytics at Evergy.
Session Description:
Evergy partnered with Esource to develop a prediction model that would predict weather impacts on the distribution system. Working together, the goal is to forecast power outages ahead of oncoming weather to improve storm response planning and internal communications. In the partnership, Evergy worked to provide:
- Use real-time weather forecasts to predict where, when, and how many power outages will occur on Evergy’s Distribution network.
- Summarize forecasted outage counts to match Evergy’s operating areas and shifts.
- Allow easy access to weather forecast data to understand the drivers behind outage predictions.
