February 15 Natural Gas Community - Using Machine Learning to Reduce Compliance Risk

When:  Feb 15, 2023 from 11:00 to 12:00 (CT)
Join the Natural Gas Analytics Community on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM CT for a discussion around, "National Grid Uses Machine Learning to Reduce Compliance Risk in its Massachusetts Gas Network" led by Sean Marden, Lead Data Scientist at National Grid.

Session Description:

Newly paved roads in Massachusetts are under “guarantee” for 5 years, which prohibits digging, meaning National Grid may not be able to address Cathodic Pipe Protection (CPP) compliance issues on some streets until the guarantee period is over. Working together, the Massachusetts Corrosion Control and Advanced Data Analytics teams leveraged Machine Learning techniques to predict the probabilities of compliance issues throughout the network so monitoring efforts and work orders can be prioritized.

During this presentation, National Grid will discuss the path from noisy data to a working output that helps teams in the field keep our gas pipelines safe and reliable.
