June 16 (2021) Grid Analytics Community Conversation - "Avista Energy Innovation Lab"

When:  Jun 16, 2021 from 13:00 to 14:00 (CT)
Join the Grid Analytics Community on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 1:00 PM CT for a presentation with Q&A and open discussion on "Avista Energy Innovation Lab" with Daniel Burgess, Senior Analyst and Mike Diedesch, PE, Manager Grid Innovation Lab at Avista Corporation.

The Avista Energy Innovation Lab was built within a Net Zero Campus located at the University District in Spokane, WA. The lab contains sophisticated equipment to allow for simulation and testing of distribution systems. For instance, how would a feeder respond to the addition of batteries and solar. Locating the lab within a campus that contains solar, battery, and thermal resources bridges the operational side to the customer side, which has traditionally been their own centers of gravity. Employee training, data and analytical services, and collaboration with businesses and universities are additional objectives of the lab. This presentation will briefly discuss Avista’s history of innovation, an overview of the campus, an introduction into the lab’s testing capabilities, and finally a few use cases that are currently underway.
