February 28 Asset Health Community - Wind Turbine Asset Management

When:  Feb 28, 2024 from 11:00 to 12:00 (CT)

Join the Asset Health Analytics Community on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 2:00 PM CT for Part 2 of our Asset Analytics Initiative Series with EPRI. Raja V. Pulikollu, Ph.D., Technical Executive, Generation - Renewables at EPRI will present on "Wind Turbine Asset Management - Performance, Reliability and Health Monitoring".

Session Description
Wind turbines may underperform due to hardware malfunctioning, software/controller issues and/or environmental conditions. This may impact overall fleet annual energy production (AEP) by 1-3%. Wind turbine main bearing, gearbox, and generator failures are one of the primary reasons for increases in operations and maintenance (O&M) costs and generation asset downtime. Overall, these drivetrain-related failures may cost more than $8M per year in O&M at a typical 1-GW wind farm. To address these industry needs, EPRI in collaboration with owners/operators/utilities developed advanced physics-based machine learning models for wind turbine performance and health monitoring. In this presentation, turbine reliability, and development and implementation of advanced methods for turbine monitoring will be discussed in detail.
