January 23 Safety Analytics Community - ML Helps National Grid’s Safety Teams Become More Proactive

When:  Jan 23, 2024 from 14:00 to 15:00 (CT)

Join the Safety Analytics Community on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM CT for a presentation with Q&A and open discussion on, "Machine Learning Helps National Grid’s Safety Teams Become  More Proactive" led by Sean Marden, Lead Data Scientist and Matt Pacenka, Manager, Performance and Reporting, NE Safety Organization at National Grid.

Session Description:

National Grid’s Safety and Data Science teams have worked together to find new ways to learn from safety data and empower efforts to improve safety culture and reduce serious injuries.  Identifying real differences and changes within noisy data has required close collaboration and a number of different approaches.  Using Duration Analysis, we have begun to highlight pockets of safety excellence and identify groups at elevated risk. Confidence intervals have allowed for improving the stability and usefulness of several safety metrics as well as helping to define testable hypotheses about worker safety.  These efforts are now helping to inform our safety strategy and develop solutions which are more focused and impactful in preventing SIFs and reducing workplace safety risks over time.
