Session Description:
Pacific Gas & Electric’s (PG&E) aerial inspection program utilizes high-resolution imagery captured using drones and helicopters to enable detailed desktop inspections of electric assets. This program is in operation for the transmission system and being piloted for the distribution system, performing tens of thousands of structure inspections and collecting millions of images each year. In parallel, PG&E has also created a machine learning team to explore how computer vision can be used to support, accelerate, and improve asset inspection and management processes. This session will provide an overview of the machine learning work, covering use cases, solutions, challenges and lessons learned.Members of the Data Science Community will receive a Microsoft Teams link prior to this meeting.
