February 20 Data Science Community - Harnessing Computer Vision for Aerial Inspection

When:  Feb 20, 2024 from 13:00 to 14:00 (CT)

Join the Data Science Community on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM CT for a presentation with Q&A and open discussion on "Harnessing Computer Vision for Aerial Inspection of Electric Assets" led by Erin Antono, Senior Data Scientist at Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E).

Session Description:

Pacific Gas & Electric’s (PG&E) aerial inspection program utilizes high-resolution imagery captured using drones and helicopters to enable detailed desktop inspections of electric assets. This program is in operation for the transmission system and being piloted for the distribution system, performing tens of thousands of structure inspections and collecting millions of images each year. In parallel, PG&E has also created a machine learning team to explore how computer vision can be used to support, accelerate, and improve asset inspection and management processes. This session will provide an overview of the machine learning work, covering use cases, solutions, challenges and lessons learned.
